The Environmental Promoters Program is a partnership with housing residents, Home Forward, Metro, and local governments.  We work with interested residents across different multifamily sites in the Metro region with the mutually agreed upon goals of improving recycling, waste reduction, green cleaning and hazardous waste reduction opportunities on their housing sites. This program is flexible and community driven, and provides the opportunity for participants to gain leadership and paid training and job experience.

To date, this program has supported residents in:

  • Improving overall recycling and waste reduction systems on multifamily housing sites

  • Improving recycling in community rooms

  • Leading projects related to waste prevention, such as clothing swaps, garage sales, and food waste prevention projects

  • Facilitating workshops related to recycling and green cleaning

  • Handing out educational resources related to waste prevention, recycling, and healthy homes.

  • Connections to careers in waste reduction and recycling

Since this program started in 2019, the Environmental Promoters have reached over 800 community members.

Blanca is interested in being an Environmental Promoter so she can teach the community around her to take care of our natural resources. We are so thrilled to have Blanca on board!

BLANCA

Spencer is interested in this opportunity because he says it's nice to be part of a team that takes action to save the environment, instead of just talking about it. Outside of Trash for Peace, he is passionate about wheelchair sports. We are so happy to have him on the team!
